چکیده

Abstract Background Sagittal abdominal diameter (SAD) is an anthropometric index associated with visceral adiposity. It remains unclear whether SAD and its socio-economic correlates differ in women men, which limits the epidemiological clinical applications of measurement. The aims this study are to examine sex differences correlates. Methods A complex stratified multistage clustered sampling design was used select 6975 men 7079 aged 18 years or more from National Health Nutrition Examination Survey 2011–2016, representative US civilian non-institutionalized population. measured accordance standard protocols using a two-arm caliper. were evaluated by performing weighted independent t tests multiple regression. Results lower than entire sample, as well all subgroups characterized age, race, birth place, household income, body mass except for non-Hispanic blacks those income < $20,000. Adjusted other characteristics, both men. Black higher then white ( p .0001), Hispanic Asian (both .01). Women born countries likely have so = .0118). Both <$75,000 had over $75,000. associations differed Conclusion general population most subgroups. While similar vary across sex.

Sagittal Abdominal Diameter as the Anthropometric Measure of Cardiovascular Risk

Obesity has a profound impact on the cardiovascular disease development, and is associated with a reduced overall survival. There is a strong correlation between the central (abdominal) type of obesity and the cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Among a variety of anthropometric measurements of the abdominal fat size, sagittal abdominal diameter has been proposed as the valid measurement of ...

Sagittal Abdominal Diameter as a New Predictor for Incident Diabetes

OBJECTIVE Obesity, particularly visceral adiposity, is a major risk factor for type 2 diabetes. The commonly used obesity indicators, BMI, waist girth, and waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), have limited ability to measure the visceral adipose tissue. Sagittal abdominal diameter (SAD) has been shown to predict the amount of visceral fat. So far no study has been published on its ability to predict diabe...

Sex Differences in Self-reported Infidelity and its Correlates

We examined sex differences in the prevalence, incidence, reasons for, and consequences of infidelity. Participants (Study 1, 543 undergraduates in the Northwestern US; Study 2, 313 undergraduates and 233 community members in the Mid-Atlantic US), reported on infidelity by questionnaire. Using a broad definition of cheating, women reported being as unfaithful or more unfaithful than men. Men we...

Validity and reliability of the sagittal abdominal diameter as a predictor of visceral abdominal fat.

OBJECTIVES To evaluate the reliability of the sagittal abdominal diameter and its validity as a predictor of visceral abdominal fat, as well as to identify the most appropriate cut-off points to identify the area of visceral fat that is known to represent a risk factor for cardiovascular disease. DESIGN Validation study. SUBJECTS 92 healthy volunteers (57 women, 35 men), age: 20-83 y, body ...
